28 January 2010

Fifteen people came to a meeting of the steering group, which was held on Thursday 28th January 2010 in The Tiger, and lasted just under two hours.

The Charter Fair Day, on 3rd July 2010, will use the rights-respecting project as the theme and TTB are invited to have a presence.

The Food Fair will be on 19th June 2010 and it was suggested that TTB and BREG share a space.   The Melplash Show is on 26th August 2010 and the idea of an ‘energy’ area was discussed.

The cycle path project contractors have been hired and a volunteer came forward to represent TTB at the consultation planned for the end of February.

BREG have abandoned their original idea for the householders awareness event and instead are planning a series of mini events leading up to a main one in October.

The Transition Network application has been completed and will be sent off.   A volunteer came forward to be the main contact.

There was a discussion on TTB constitution and procedures.   It was generally agreed that the steering group would become redundant and be replaced by a small board of directors, with representatives from local groups.   The website will continue to be the main contact for the public with links to other local groups.

There has been discussion about how TTB and Colfox’s Eco Club can work together and possible projects and further links will be explored, including a stall at the Charter Fair and developing the school’s vegetable garden.

The offer of space made by Philip Colfox was briefly discussed and a visit to look at the premises will be arranged.

There was a general discussion in which everybody was invited to raise their ideas and concerns.   Subjects brought up included networking with other TT groups, the importance of good PR, film showings, the SW quadrant appeal and how to include the younger generation in things as much as possible.

Plans have been made to hold Green Wheels 2 on 13th June, consisting of a mass ride from town to West Bay.   Also, a grow your own lunch event and volunteers were requested to help man the stand and provide plants.

The steering group plan to meet again on 25th February 2010.
